Hydebank Wood
Accommodation
Hydebank comprises five self contained houses, each of which can hold about 60 inmates, mostly in single cell accommodation. Each house comprises four landings each of which has a shower/toilet room and recreation/dining areas.
The five houses are called Ash, Beech, Cedar, Elm and Willow. A substantial refurbishment programme has been undertaken to provide in-room sanitation in houses Ash, Beech and Cedar. Elm and Willow already have this facility.
Ash House was redesignated as a prison on 18 June 2004 and accommodates Northern Ireland's female prisoners and young offenders.
Cedar House houses those inmates on the Enhanced regime, who have passed drug tests and whose attitude, behaviour and willingness to participate in programmes to address offending behaviour, is rewarded with improved recreational facilities and a more relaxed regime.
Elm House contains the Induction Unit for new male committals to Hydebank , a residential landing, and the Special Supervision Unit.
Willow House contains two Juvenile Unit landings for male inmates under 18 years of age, and two residential landings
