Maghaberry Prison

HMCIP Report 2002

Her Majesty's Inspector of Prisons, Anne Owers, published her report following a full announced inspection on 13-17 May 2002 on 26 February 2003.

The report carries some 170 recommendations and cited almost 40 examples of good practice. The Director General of the Northern Ireland Prison Service welcomed the publication of the report which he said 'acknowledges the progress that has been achieved at Maghaberry whilst taking a realistic view of challenges ahead.'

Maghaberry was inspected by the Criminal Justice Inpsectorate for Northern Ireland (assisted by HMCIP) in September 2005. Thta report has yet to be published.
