It is with regret that the Prison Service announces the death of Colin Martin Bell in Maghaberry Prison. His body was found in his cell and he was formally pronounced dead at 0113am on Friday 1 August.

His next-of-kin, the PSNI, and the Coroner has been informed, while, in line with standard procedure, the Prisoner Ombudsman has commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

The Northern Ireland Prison Service expresses their sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
