MAGILLIGAN LOCKS UP LOCAL BUSINESS PEOPLE FOR CHARITY
Date Created - Tuesday 02 March 10 @ 13:03This coming Friday, 5th March, Magilligan Prison, will be opening its gates to allow The Cedar Foundation raise vital funds for the charity through an event named ‘Jail and Bail.’
Usually this type of event is located in a swanky new boardroom but on this occasion The Cedar Foundation are thrilled to be bringing the literal meaning to the name; ‘Jail and Bail,’ through accessing the prison’s facilities. Representatives from E.A. Davies, St Mary’s College, ASDA, Accelerate Taxis, Boots Chemist, and PDQ Solutions have all agreed to ‘give themselves up’. Mayor of Limavady, Cllr Cathal Ó hOisín will be present to oversee the arrests of the businesspeople who will then be put into solitary confinement until their £500 bail money is raised- they will be allowed to contact people on the outside for help.

Magilligan Deputy Governor Gavin Clendinning is delighted to be hosting this group of temporary ‘inmates’ for the day.
He said: “Magilligan Prison is continually exploring ways of linking up with the local community and this is an ideal way to use our facilities for a good cause. The Cedar Foundation does tremendous work for people with disabilities and I hope it raises thousands from this event. If not, we may have to lock a few more people up overnight!”
Christine Tweedie, Cedar’s Fundraising Co-ordinater commented, ‘On behalf of The Cedar Foundation, I’d like to extend our thanks to Magilligan Prison for all their help in making arrangements to provide our fundraisers with a fun and unique experience on Friday that I’m sure they’ll never forget!’
