The Northern Ireland Prison Service regrets the death of Prisoner John Russell who died today.
Mr Russell, who was housed at Magilligan Prison, died after a long illness. He had recently been transferred to an outside hospital. As with all deaths in custody, the Prisoner Ombudsman has been advised.
