Brief description: Services Directorate is comprised of four branches whose main responsibilities are as follows:-

Prison Law and Policy Branch - Amendments to and advice on prison law; Supervision of life sentence licensees; Administration of NI (Sentences) Act 1998; Provision of information to victims; Approval and accreditation of prisoner programmes and activities; Work in connection with the Billy Wright Inquiry.

Estate Management Branch - Management of the Prison Service estate including preparation of business cases for and management of all capital works projects.

Business Development Branch - Work to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Service including taking forward work on the future of escorting as part of the Strategic Development Programme.

Central Services Branch - A range of support services including records management and freedom of information; Claims; Procurement; Video Conferencing; Transport; Central stores; Health and safety; Messenger services.
