Goggins initiates independent CJI review of transition to community arrangements for life sentence prisoners

Prisons’ Minister Paul Goggins has announced an independent review of the current Prison Service arrangements for assessing and ‘testing’ life sentence prisoners prior to their release.

School children swap lessons for a taste of life behind bars

Hundreds of pupils in the Craigavon area this week will be freed from the rigours of school work but will instead get a sample of prison life, as officers from the Northern Ireland Prison Service visit their schools to warn of the consequences of a life of crime.

SUSPENSION OF ROBERT DUFFY’S LIFE LICENCE

The Secretary of State, Shaun Woodward has suspended Robert Duffy’s ‘early’ release license after he was sentenced to life imprisonment at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin for the attempted murder of a man in Dundalk in March 2007.
